March Madness

I mean that because of the NCAA Basketball Tournament which I have been watching all weekend (GO TERPS!!!!) and because of the fact today is the first day of Spring and it’s been snowing all weekend where I live. Fortunately, none of it has stuck to the ground, but still – Mother Nature needs to get her shit together. Not even two weeks ago it was near 80 degrees and I was contemplating turning on the air conditioning because it was actually a bit uncomfortable. Now I’m back to running the wood stove because it’s cold and windy outside.

I’m trying to get more into the swing of writing again, but it’s been hard because of the migraine issues. I’ve been going to physical therapy for my migraines, and it has been helping. Apparently my headaches are triggered by a muscle spasm where my skull and neck join. The therapist said this is common and is because I sit at a desk all day typing and looking down at papers on my desk. People at work think I’m crazy because they will walk by my office and I’m randomly doing stretches for my neck and back or I’ll have a giant heating pad wrapped around my neck and shoulders. I’m happy to report that it’s been almost two weeks and I haven’t had a migraine. Let’s hope it continues moving forward. I feel like I’m getting back to being me.

Thanks to my awesome beta, kleannhouse! I added more after she reviewed these chapters, so any mistakes are all mine.

What can I say? My little shipper heart hated how SVM and TB treated Eric, so I have made it my mission to create worlds where the Viking always gets the girl. :-)

I use Imitrex nasal spray or you cold use the injections. Don’t them give you the pills. And use ice on your neck not heat. Heat will only add to the inflammation. I’m looking forward to reading more of your work. It is a salve to me when I need a release.Maria

    Hey there,
Another Marylander here… GO TERPS! I had always had migraines but they were related to my period until about 1.5 years ago when I had one for 2 weeks, 5 days good, 10 with a migraine. Long story short after consulting with a neurologist he recommended I take 400mg magnesium daily. It has helped a lot! Something to research or ask your doc about. As has PT. Another product that has helped me is a homeopathic medicine “Migraine Relief” by NatraBio. It has taken the edge off my migraine pain admittedly while I am waiting for something “stronger” to kick in but still, whatever works. I hope this or anything helps.
As one of my doctors put it: I hope you get WELL soon. As opposed to just feeling better, you want to be well. I also explain that I have an injured foot, not a bad foot. My foot hasn’t been naughty, it doesn’t need to be punished with a negative meaning label. And now I am blog comment rambling.
    Get well soon!

Glad you were able to figure out what triggers the migraines, it can be such a big help in trying to prevent them starting. Hoping you are able to find a way to work that won’t trigger any more of them.
