A Week of Sorrow

This week has been one of reflection and sadness. For those of us in America, Veterans’ Day is a day to honor those in the Armed Forces; the brave men and women that have put, and continue to put their lives on the line to defend our country. I may not agree with what battles our soldiers are involved in or what foreign soil our Commander-in-Chief sends them to, but it isn’t their fault. A soldier doesn’t have a choice of when or where they will defend our country or defend democracy; they are meant to follow orders. To follow orders without question, to know that you may not come back alive…. I know I can’t do it. I admire them greatly for their courage and sacrifice and will honor them always.

Friday evening there were horrific attacks throughout the city of Paris. Hundreds of lives lost or injured in senseless acts of mayhem. For this American, it hit too close to home. Images of 9/11 flashed through my mind as I watched the news coverage. I have to admit, I had to turn the news off. To this day, I still cannot look at images or video from 9/11. It still hurts….

And last but least, this week marked the second anniversary of EricIzMine’s passing. I did not know Angela, and I will always regret that. From the stories my beta, kleannhouse, has told me, Angela was a remarkable woman, even if she did have thing for Justin Bieber.

We can forgive Angela for that; we all have our guilty pleasures.

Last year, I wrote something to honor her birthday in July. This year, I intended to do the same, but life got in the way. I actually started this story in May before my world turned upside down. I finally finished it this week. Let me give you a little back story. Two of my favorite stories of EIM’s are Europass and Nuclear Winter, two tales of the Multiverse. For this tribute story, I’ve borrowed characters mentioned in these tales and created my mini-verse, so there will be things that happen that aren’t like anything EIM wrote. There is a reason for it which you will see at the end of the story. As always, I ask permission before I borrow Angela’s characters or even mention her.

It’s the respectful thing to do.

Thanks as always to the wonderful kleannhouse for her beta skills. I know this was an extremely rough week my friend, and I am forever appreciative of all your help.

Without further ado:

What can I say? My little shipper heart hated how SVM and TB treated Eric, so I have made it my mission to create worlds where the Viking always gets the girl. :-)

  3. I can’t wait to read this, As always, you remember what’s important and honor those you mention with your words. I don’t read SVM fanfiction anymore – but this one? I’ll read it. Love and miss you.

If you didn’t get this from following Jess directly – you HAVE to read it. Nope – nothing written by me – I still have two chapters that are WIP so hopefully soon. Maybe when I’m off for Thanksgiving.
