A Recipe for Excess

So this weekend is historically known as cookie weekend in my household, although more than just cookies are made.  For three days, my kitchen is a beehive of activity as my husband and I make breads, cookies, candy, and other types of treats for our friends and coworkers.  Here’s a sample of what our grocery list looked like to prepare for this weekend:

20 pounds of granulated sugar

20 pounds of flour

6 pounds of brown sugar

25 sticks of butter

6 dozen eggs

6 bags of coconut

5 bags of chocolate chips

1 container of raisins

Numerous spices

And what do I have to show for it?  Dozens of chocolate chip cookies and oatmeal raisin cookies, chocolate chip/peanut butter cup/brownie bars, chocolate-covered coconut macaroons, chocolate-covered pretzels, chocolate-covered Oreos, and loaves of banana, pumpkin, applesauce, and pineapple cheese bread (not all together in one type of bread mind you).

The sad part in all of this?

I don’t want to eat any of it.

As I said before, you are only getting one story update this week, but at least you are getting two chapters of it.  😉

Tis the Season – Baby It’s Cold Outside

Tis the Season – Five Golden Rings

Thanks to the wonderful kleannhouse who read these chapters will down and out with the flu plus a cold.  Hopefully she is feeling better.

What can I say? My little shipper heart hated how SVM and TB treated Eric, so I have made it my mission to create worlds where the Viking always gets the girl. :-)

I’ve had so many cake orders for customers lately that I’m way behind on my own holiday baking. Yours sounds wonderful, though!

  2. I know what you mean. I did 16 batches of rum or whiskey balls, 10 batches of choc. chip, 8 of white choc, 4 peanut butter chip, 2 Italian cookies batches (uses 9 cups flour per) lost count of pies. All of my sons what their sweets and wives do not make them. So mom does. LOL Now hubby put his order in but I’m making him help.
